Kenya Update: Little Angels Admitted to Hospital

Unfortunately, there is some bad news to report. Early this morning the local Little Angels Effort received a message from Magdalene that some of the children at the Centre are quite sick. First, a secondary student at Little Angels, has tested positive for the HIV virus. It is currently unknown how the student contracted the virus, but it has just now been detected. Centre staff are currently trying to obtain proper medications for this student.

In addition, this time of year brings cooler weather in Makutano, Kenya, and the mosquitos are numerous. Because of this, malaria is a threat to all of the Little Angels. Another elder student, among others less seriously sick due to the cool weather, has become sick with malaria, and this student has been taken to the Mwea Hospital a few miles north of Makutano in the Mwea township. Although the hospital is modestly equipped, it provides beetter care for the sick child than could the services in Makutano, and they are doing all that is possible to fight the disease. Further updates on these two students will be posted as they become available.
